Dragon Quest III HD Monster Arena Tournaments, Monster Wrangler

Square Enix shared the latest Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake details today, including the all-new Monster Arena Tournaments plus the Monster Wrangler vocation. We also have the latest screenshots revealing two in-game locations, beautifully reimagined in the iconic HD-2D graphic style.

Here’s the full rundown:

Monster Arena Tournaments, new and exclusive to Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

There are several monster arenas scattered across the world and each is home to its own ranked tournaments. The key to emerging victorious from these is to assemble your toughest team of up to three rescued monsters. Rescuing more than one of the same species of monster will make that type of creature even mightier! Gather a group of strong critters that will lead you to victory and rich rewards!

Friendly monsters that can be rescued will appear on the field, but every monster is different and you’ll need to use special tricks to rescue some of them. Some will flee when exposed to certain sounds or smells, while others will scamper at the mere sight of you. Try masking your approach with certain abilities or items that can turn you invisible or mask your scent.

New details of the Monster Wrangler vocation

The Monster Wrangler vocation is uniquely useful for, among other abilities, building a team to take on the Monster Arena Tournaments. That’s because having a Monster Wrangler in your party will prevent friendly critters from fleeing when you approach. They can also tell you how many of these critters are in the area nearby.

The Monster Wrangler’s “Monster Pile-On” attack deals more damage the more monsters you’ve rescued. Plus, rescuing more monsters unlocks new abilities for the Monster Wrangler!
