Dragon Quest XI producer says “many things” need to be worked out before Switch version launches
Dragon Quest XI might be the most mysterious Switch game in development currently. After all, it was technically announced way back in 2015 when the system still had its codename NX.
Polygon asked Hokuto Okamoto for an update on the Switch version of Dragon Quest XI at E3 last week. “We’re making it,” he said. “We’re still making it. I can’t say anything more.”
Polygon followed up by asking about what accounted for the extra development time. Okamoto said in response:
“When we first announced [Dragon Quest 11], the Switch hadn’t come out yet, and the development kit also wasn’t finalized. The hardware specs weren’t out yet, but we were like, ‘We can manage this. We can put this out on the Switch.'”
Okamoto and the rest of the team need to finish “taking care of all those many things” that need adjustments before Dragon Quest XI lands on Switch. Okamoto actually asked Polygon to stop asking about when the game would come to Switch after trying to continue pressing for answers.
