Evo 2022 lineup announced
During a presentation held today, the final lineup of games was announced for Evo 2022.
The tournament will be supported with a few titles that are currently available on Switch (and some that aren’t). Dragon Ball FighterZ, Mortal Kombat 11, Melty Blood: Type Lumina, Skullgirls 2nd Encore, Street Fighter V Champion Edition, Tekken 7, Guilty Gear Strive, King of Fighters XV, and Granblue Fantasy Versus will all be at the event.
One franchise that is having a notable absence this time around is Super Smash Bros. Organizers already confirmed a couple of weeks ago that the series would not be represented at all – meaning no Super Smash Bros. Melee or even Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
It’s unclear at this time why Smash Bros. won’t be at Evo 2022. We only have the official statement indicating that Nintendo chose not to get involved this time around, but a return in the future isn’t out of the question.
Sony announced last March that it had acquired Evo. Nintendo mentioned at the time that it would “continue to assess Evo, and other opportunities, as we plan for future online and offline Super Smash Bros. tournament activity.”
Evo 2022 will take place between August 5 and August 7 in Las Vegas.
