Hogwarts Legacy frame rate resolution

Digital Foundry is offering a technical deep dive on the new Nintendo Switch 2 version of Hogwarts Legacy, covering the main tidbits such as frame rate and resolution. We also get further insight into how it holds up against other versions.

Here’s the full rundown:

– Big improvement over Switch 1 version
– Has respectable looking GI, sophisticated SSAO, greater use of shadow maps, more environmental light sources
– Has screen space reflections on bodies of water and other glossy surfaces, unlike Switch 1 version; plus more convincing water ripples
– In terms of lighting, there’s a richer appearance with obvious specularity and surface imperfections
– Huge leap with asset quality
– Foliage improved compared to Switch 1
– Some views have been restored that were scaled back on Switch 1
– Removal of most loading screens
– Hogwarts Legacy Nintendo Switch 2 resolution is 720, but DLSS seems to boost it to 1080p
– Hogwarts Legacy frame rate is generally 30 FPS on Switch 2 with some momentary exceptions
– Handheld resolution is 540p with DLSS boosting final output to 1080p
– Frame rate is similar in handheld mode
– Lighting, assets, basic visual settings similar to Xbox One S but textures are sometimes higher res on Switch 2 while foliage is a bit patchier than PS4
