For those now getting their hands on Pokemon Legends: Z-A, we have a new guide to tell you how to get Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie.

These three creatures were the starter Pokemon in the Kalos region when Pokemon X and Y first released over ten years ago. In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile are the starter Pokemon instead. That doesn’t mean you can’t get the Kalos starters in this game, though – in fact, you can get all three of them after playing the game for just a few hours.

For Chespin, you will need to finish the side mission A Feisty Chespin. It’s found north of Restaurant Le Wow. Once there, you’ll need to battle Chespin three separate times in order for it to join your team. Thankfully, Chespin is extremely easy to defeat, especially if you chose Tepig. In that case, you simply run it over with Flame Wheel three times for an easy battle.

For Fennekin, the mission in question is called Get Well, Fennekin. You’ll need to visit an herbalist near Cafe Classe, and then to Wild Zone 5 to collect Revitalizing Twigs. Most of the twigs are broken, however, and there’s a very powerful Alpha Whirlipede nearby. Climb up a nearby ladder and grab the correct twig, and then head back to Fennekin to get it to join your party.

For Froakie, you’ll have to find the mission called A Challenge from Froakie near the Jaune Pokemon Center. For this one, you will be tasked with clearing three scaffolding challenges. None of these are very difficult, and the time limit for each one is very generous. Clear them all, and you’ll be able to add Froakie to your team. All three Kalos starter Pokemon come in a standard Poke Ball and they all have your OT as well.

Do keep in mind that Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja all have officially revealed Mega Evolutions, but you can only get their Mega Stones by ranking up online in battles.
