Hunter x Hunter Nen Impact 3v3 interview

Hunter x Hunter is getting a brand new fighting game later this year with Hunter x Hunter: Nen Impact. In a recent interview with Dengeki Online, the team talked a bit more about the game.

The first thing briefly discussed is the decision to go with the 3v3 style. Here’s our translation of that excerpt:

The fighting genre is continually growing, please talk to us about the aims and reasons behind adopting the side-view 3v3 style.

We thought that it was better to express the greatness of telekinesis in an intense battle between multiple people, rather than a mild 1-on-1 fight.

Also brought up is how the Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact developers are doing their best to respect the source material. Regarding that, we have the following excerpt:

I see. In that case, please talk to us about the parts that you had to take care with when expressing that Hunter x Hunter feeling.

As much as possible, we tried to make it in a way not to ruin the image of the original work, or stray too far from the premise, making allowances for areas that may be a little strong for a fighting game. There were also fans of the original work involved in the development, and if our realization didn’t match their image, or if it felt too weak, we made adjustments until it did match.

Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact will be out later in 2024, featuring favorite characters such as Gon, Killua, Leorio, Kurapika, and Hisoka. We have more information about the game here.
