[Let’s Talk] 2025 Nintendo predictions
As Nintendo fans know, 2025 is looking like it could be a big year for the Big N. We don’t get console launches very often, but it seems as though that will finally be happening within the next several months. If nothing else, we’re getting an announcement by March or so – which isn’t too far away.
Nintendo does have some confirmed plans in place already, with some Switch games confirmed for 2025. However, it’s the unknown that we’re focusing on today.
What are your predictions for Nintendo in 2025? When do you think the company’s new system will be announced and released? How about games you think could be revealed? And what about other initiatives like movies? Let us know in the comments.

I really am looking forward to finally seeing more Pokemon Legends Z-A news whenever gamefreak shows that.
I also really want to play Metroid prime 4 after much anticipation and replaying Xenoblade Chronicles X with the new definitive edition!

2025, if we only judge from what has been announced so far, shapes up to be the weakest year of videogame releases in at least a decade. I’m sure that will change on the Nintendo side if we get the Switch 2 launch in Q2-Q3 that some of us are expecting (or at least hoping for). If that happens, we can immedialy add at least 2 or 3 top tier games coming from Nintendo by Holiday 2025, including a big, wonderful Mario game… plus some other fun small games that various companies are getting ready. That will “save 2025” as they say, bring it back up to a “good” or even “great” year.
PS5 has had a great 2022-2024 for 3rd-party games in my opinion (I know I’m in the minority in that on this site, and like others here I have very little interest in Sony 1st-party) … but PS5 3rd-party lineup also has very little announced for 2025 yet. It’s like everyone is planning an “off year” to make room for Switch 2 launch & GTA6.
Only a couple of titles listed below would have been in my top 5 or 10 anticipated the last 3 years (namely, Metroid Prime 4 & Lost Soul Aside). It’s OK though, my backlog is so huge, I’m fine with it, as long as cool Japanese and Asian games start releasing again in 2026… I’m not a PC gamer (except for low-graphics indies), and mostly play on all three consoles. Right now my most anticipated are:
– Switch: Metroid Prime 4, XCX, Gal Guardians 2, the new Rune Factory game(s), Cosmic Fantasy Collection 2, and various indies like Blade Chimera, Gecko Gods & Witchbrook/Spellbound
– PS5: Wuthering Waves & maybe another Hoyolike or two, Freedom Wars rem, some other classic remasters like Suikoden 1+2, Atelier Yumia, MH Wilds, AI-Limit, Lost Soul Aside, Ruffy & the Riverside
– Xbox: No Rest for the Wicked, Greedfall II, Clair Obscur, Doom Dark Ages

My eyes are set on Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time…

Xenoblade X for Switch, for it completely has Xenoblade in its entirety on Switch.
A lot of the time, the only thing I want in the new year is simply better respect for Nintendo, it just doesn’t get enough credit for keeping gaming accessible and exciting in these trying times.
