[Let’s Talk] Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition
Nintendo made an announcement a couple of weeks ago that not many saw coming. In November, the company will be bringing back the NES. Nintendo is readying a mini version of its classic console as a plug-and-play device under the name “Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition”.
The NES Classic Edition will cost $60, but you’re getting quite a lot for that price. 30 games are included in the box, meaning its $2 for each one. There are some absolute classics in there such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and much more.
How’s everyone feeling about the NES Classic Edition? Will you be picking up one come November? Would you be interested in seeing Nintendo adopt the same idea for some other older systems? Tell us your thoughts below!
Highlights from last week’s topic: Pokemon GO

When Pokemon Go was first announced I was stoked. The more I thought about it, however, I thought “Do I really want to be walking around outside catching pokemon?” and I didn’t think it was going to be my type of game. I mean, I love Pokemon. It’s probably my favorite franchise of all. So once it was released, of course, I had to at least give it a shot. Somewhat to my surprise I really enjoyed it right out of the gate. It’s like playing Pokemon for the first time since the game play is so different from the traditional games. I mean, I have technically caught them all in Omega Ruby (712 caught, don’t have some of the non-required legendaries), but I feel like each new Pokemon I encounter in the game I am really excited to see like its the first time I have ever seen them. I’m like “OH MAN! It’s a Likitung! That’s so awesome! I have to catch it! I must do whatever I have to do to get this pokemon! Then I must show everyone that I did and rub it in that I have this awesome new Pokemon!”. Even though I have caught Likitung in like every single Pokemon game that I could possibly catch him in and never really been that excited about it, really just throwing him in the PC as soon as I did lol. So, yeah, Pokemon GO has really been a fresh Pokemon experience for me and I am really enjoying it. I hope the “thrill” of it does not wear off anytime soon and I hope that they unlock/reveal trading and local 1v1 battling in the near future. I know there is plenty of room for expansion on the game given its piddly 150/160 something Pokedex as of now. Also, I hope they get their server issues under control. That’s pretty frustrating to run into every other day.

I remember seeing that initial trailer where everyone was gathered in Times Square to catch a Mewtwo and thinking how ridiculous it was. It’d never happen. It’d never catch on. I was so sure of it. And then, uh… well, it caught on. Everywhere. A lot.
Way to shut me up. XD
And honestly, despite my impressions before playing, I’ve been having a blast with it. I mean, for being an incredibly clunky barebones glitchfest of a game, it’s strangely addicting. I currently have 65 unique Pokemon thus far thanks to all the catching and hatching I’ve been doing, and I plan to try and catch ’em all if I can. Unfortunately, I feel like I’ve exhausted all the Pokemon I’m probably going to find around where I live (outside of evolving and egg hatching). But in a week, I’ll be spending an extended period of time in another state, so maybe I’ll encounter things I don’t regularly see (maybe I’ll finally start finding some Dratinis!). ^_^

It’s like a sudden outbreak that has taken the world by storm, whether or not it remains, and whether or not it’s an actual good thing remains to be seen. I personally dislike mobile games, and that won’t change with anything Nintendo puts out for mobile.
But for the people who like it please, beware of your surroundings as it’s only a matter of time before things go wrong and people, who are too absorbed in the game, end up in a car accident or worse.
Other than that I dearly hope the storm starts calming down soon, as it would be nice to hear some more about Nintendo’s actual dedicating gaming devices.
