[Let’s Talk] What are you playing? – April 2025

Posted on April 12, 2025 by (@NE_Brian) in Let's Talk

A new month started up not too long ago. Now that we’re in April, we want to know what you’ve been playing.

Are you still exploring the world of Mira in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition? What about other recent games like SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered and Rift of the NecroDancer? No matter the case, let us know in the comments below.

Highlights from last week’s topic: Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 reactions

Eager to get my hands on the system! Mario Kart looks like a dream game, and I can see myself playing it for years to come. Donkey Kong Bananza also looks fantastic. His animations are incredible and I love how interactive the world looks. It reminds me a lot of Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, one of my all-time favorite GameCube-era games. The real star of the show for me was Kirby Air Riders. I’ve waited over twenty years for this one. It brought a tear to my eye, something that no game reveal has ever done. I still can’t get over that it’s happening.

Regarding pricing, I think many are acting hyperbolic, ridiculous, and a little unfairly. Why is everything else in the world allowed to increase in price but video games? Over the last three decades, I’ve seen meals go from $10 to $15 to $20 at the same restaurants, concert prices go from $50 to $300+, and subscriptions go from $5 to $25 to even sometimes $50+. Games have been $60 for decades, and the standard price raises to $70 and people act like the devil himself spat on them. And for a premium title, you really don’t think you’ll get $80 worth of entertainment out of Mario Kart? I can guarantee more hours than you would get out of bringing your family to the movies for the same price. And if you don’t think so, just don’t buy it. Why act like you’re starting a revolution over something you could simply go without? I think the general populous needs to realize the difference between not being able to afford something and that something being overpriced.

But, to bring it all back, yeah! I liked it!

I’m interested in getting the bundle.

Kyoko

I liked it.

Was it the best? No, but it had enough to make me interested on the console.

-Mario kart World looks awesome and can’t wait to play it.
-DK Bananza is not what I was expecting from a DK game… but it still looks really fun. plus I’ve been waiting for a new game since the Switch came out, so I’ll take it.
-Nintendo Gamecube on NSO

I know there’s going to be another Direct in June or July, so I’m fine with just that for now.

This was one of the most exciting directs I’ve seen in quite some time. I loved so many of the games shown and the switch 2 seems like a big step forward from the switch 1. I’m really excited for the ability to easily stream games to friends with no additional addons. Just the simple press of a button and you can enjoy games with friends!

Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are really exciting. Both of them seem to be really innovate entries. I think just being able to drive around casually through the world of Mario kart with friends is going to be awesome!

Switch’s biggest Direct before Switch 2 is one of the biggest and the best I’ve ever seen and I certainly find it’ll be doing well late in life and have the greatest late-life system support of any system in Nintendo’s history. Switch 2’s big Direct is clearly one of the best in some time, so I now know it’s going to be well no matter what.
