Today, we’re listing off the locations for all of the Secret Mine Gems in Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD. If you missed our previous guide on the Old Clockworks gem locations, you can catch up via this link before you continue.
The Secret Mine is the fourth mansion in Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, and its gems take the form of Sapphires this time around. As with the previous collectibles, several sapphires can only be found in certain missions. We’ve listed the mission in question for each of the gems included here.
Gem #1 (Smokehouse, D-1)
Near the back right of this area, you can use your Dark-Light Device to uncover a hidden towel. Suck up the towels here to dispense this gem!
Gem #2 (Fishing Hut, D-1)
At the bottom left of the room, you’ll see an area of the wooden floor boards that seems to be missing a long piece. Squeeze Luigi into this area and use your Poltergust to reveal this hidden sapphire.
Gem #3 (Under the Ice, D-1)
With Toad in tow, shoot him into the mineshaft at the top of the area. He’ll fall down and pick up another Secret Mine gem on his way back!
Gem #4 (High Wires, D-1)
After crossing the first zipline, look up and to the left to see another sapphire hiding in a nearby crow’s nest.
Gem #5 (Airway, D-1)
Look through the binoculars here and look around to find a sapphire out of reach. A bat will pick it up and drop it, and the gem winds up in a nearby barrel. Head to the elevator and open the barrel to receive it.
Gem #6 (Chalet Approach, D-2)
Head to the grill and activate it to light the chicken on fire. Take it off the porch and hold it over the nearby painting to thaw it out. Then, use your Dark-Light Device to reveal one of the trickier Secret Mine gem locations.
Gem #7 (Prospector’s Crossing, D-2)
Though it’s tough to see, there’s another sapphire buried under the ice here. Use your Dark-Light Device on the bottom right wall to reveal a tool, and then use your Poltergust and it will create a few logs. Put them on the ice and it will crack under the weight, revealing this sapphire for you to take.
Gem #8 (Skip Slope, D-2)
For this gem, you’ll need to slide down the slope here – possibly a couple of times. There’s a portal at the bottom that brings you back up to the top, so you can try it as many times as you like. You’ll need to slide through the wheel at the left to receive this sapphire, and it all comes down to timing. Don’t be surprised if it takes you a few attempts!
Gem #9 (Shaft, D-2)
At the bottom of the Shaft, there’s a rope here you can pull on with the Poltergust. To see what the rope uncovered, you will have to move back up the room a little bit. You’ll notice a new hole in the wall containing one of the trickier Secret Mine gem locations.
Gem #10 (Deep Hall, D-2)
Grab a heated rock and look up – there’s a sapphire frozen in the ceiling. Shoot it at the gem and it’ll melt, causing it to drop and allowing you to claim it for yourself.
Gem #11 (Crossroads, D-2)
Head through the portal here to reach the left side of the area. There’s a hidden crate you can uncover with your Dark-Light Device, as shown above. You’ll need to enter the portal again to suck up the Spirit orbs, which will cause the box to materialize and pop out a gem.
Gem #12 (Chalet, D-2)
Enter the Crystal Quarry and you’ll find a portal that leads back to the Chalet. Take it, and Luigi will land on the couch and reveal another hidden Secret Mine gem location.
Gem #13 (High Wires, D-2)
Near the end of the mission, you’ll unlock a room that lets you shoot heated rocks at the High Wires. Aim one at the tree towards the left of the area and it will fall, creating a path you can cross to access a minigame. The minigame itself is fairly straightforward: shoot a bunch of Hiders with snowballs to defeat them and you’ll receive the final sapphire. With that, you’ve uncovered all of the Secret Mine gems in Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD. Great work!
