Nintendo reveals Metroid Prime 4 timeline placement
If you’re curious about the timeline placement for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond for the overall series, we’ve got you covered with some new information directly from Nintendo.
The development team was talking with Japanese magazine Famitsu via a recent issue. While we don’t have a specific name, someone from Nintendo gave some insight.
Let’s cut to the chase. According to what was stated in the interview, Metroid Prime 4’s timeline placement is set after Super Metroid and before Metroid Fusion. However, you don’t need to be a lore expert or a longtime fan to enjoy the game. With Samus ending up in another dimension in Metroid Prime 4, Nintendo “wanted to be able to create a free and original setting for Metroid Prime without affecting the 2D Metroid series.”
Metroid Prime 4 is actually the first Metroid Prime game that takes place after Super Metroid. Metroid Prime 1-3, Hunters, and Federation Force were set between the original Metroid / Metroid: Zero Mission and Metroid 2.
There was a lot of other noteworthy information coming from the same interview. In case you missed it, we translated comments about why Metroid Prime 4 wasn’t made to be an open-world title and how the project came to be.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is available on Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide.
