More Fire Emblem Echoes details – timeline, characters, system, battle

Thanks to VincentASM from Serenes Forest and Gematsu, even more details have come in for Fire Emblem Echoes. The latest information was transcribed from the official site. The timeline of events, characters, system, and battle are all covered here. We’ve rounded up all of the details below. 

Timeline

Approximately 3000 years before the story

– At the land of Valentia, the sibling gods Duma and Mila went to war
– At the end of an arduous battle, Duma and Mila divided Valentia into two
– North ruled by Duma
– South ruled by Mila
– Boths sides declared to never invade the other
– This was the covenant of the gods

Year 1

– A sage with knowledge of the celestial bodies’ motions introduced the notion of a calendar system to Mila, who acknowledged it
– This year was chosen as the first year of the Valentia Calendar

Year 189

– Rigelian Empire established in the northern region
– Ruled by Duma
– Kingdom of Zofia was built on the southern lands
– Ruled by Mila

Year 374

– The young Rudolf was appointed as the successor of the Rigelian Empire’s Emperor Rigel III
– He ascended as Emperor Rudolf I

Year 384

– King Lima III of Zofia perished
– Although his eldest son Lima IV was crowned, he had little interest in politics and the villainous Desaix secured the position of Chancellor

Year 398

– Poor harvests caused the food-stocks of the Rigelian Empire to run dry
– Rigel’s request for assistance from Zofia were met with rejection
– Rudolf I himself led the troops to invade Zofia. Rigel and Zofia entered all-out war

Year 399

– The inexperienced Zofian army were repeatedly defeated by the overwhelming Rigelian forces and Rigel steadily crept into Zofian territory
– Desaix managed to contact the upper echelon of the Rigelian Army and negotiated a cease-fire in exchange for a large compensatory sum of gold
– The Rigelian Army remained garrisoned in Northern Zofia and tensions continued to grow

Year 400

– Desaix triggered a coup d’etat, and the Zofian royal family including Lima IV were assassinated one after the other
– The Deliverance was established by the Zofian nobility who opposed Desaix, with Clive as its leader

Celica

– One of two of the game’s main characters
– She spent her childhood days with Alm
– Left the village after a certain incident, serving as a Priestess at Novis
– After having an ominous dream about Alm and to determine the cause of many unusual happenings in Zofia, she leaves on a journey to the Mila Temple

Mae

– Mage who works at the Novis Monastery
– Acts as Celica’s servant
– The two are also close friends
– Accompanies Celica on her journey towards the Mila Temple

Boey

– A mage who works at the Novis Monastery
– He serves Celica together with his childhood friend Mae
– Accompanies Celica on her journey towards the Mila Temple

Genny

– Cleric
– Lives in Novis Monastery
– Like a little sister to Celica
– She accompanies Celica on her journey towards the Mila Temple

Saber

– Previously a soldier from the Rigelian Empire
– Now a mercenary hanging around Novis
– Becomes Celica’s sword in exchange for gold

– Former soldier
– Seeking revenge on the Pirate Dach who massacred his family
– Joined Celica to exact his vengeance
– Headstrong and always trying to help people with nary a regard of the consequences

Leon

– Pretty boy ex-soldier who follows his big brother figure Valbar
– Frank personality and a sharp tongue
– Honest man who tells no lies

Kamui

– Mercenary from a distant nation
– Hired by Valbar for the purpose of revenge
– Has a carefree and easy-going personality
– Freedom-loving drifter who hates being tied down

Alm

– Starting class: Fighter
– Protagonist
– Grew up in Ram Village in the Zophia Kingdom
– Trained by his grandfather Mycen, he is considerably skilled with a sword
– Has a strong sense of justice, and seeking out a chance to make the best use of his strength, joins the Zophia Liberation Army resisting the Rigel Empire

Gray

– Starting class: Villager
– Alm’s childhood friend who lives in Ram Village
– Aloof, nimble character
– Born in a merchant house, so he has become very familiar with the fair-spoken ways of the world
– Joins the Liberation Army with Alm

Robin

– Starting class: Villager
– Alm’s childhood friend who lives in Ram Village
– The oldest son of a big family
– Joins the Liberation Army for money purposes
– Honest, simple, diligent, and straightforward character
– He can’t read the situation

Kliff

– Starting class: Villager
– Alm’s childhood friend
– Lives in Ram Village
– Likes reading books and researching history, and his speech and conduct are above others his age
– Joins the Liberation Army because of his interest in the world

Effie

– Starting class: Villager
– Alm’s childhood friend who lives in Ram Village
– She has wholeheartedly admired Alm since she they were young. Following Alm, she joins the Liberation Army

Lukas

– Starting class: Soldier
– Part of the Zophia Liberation Army
– Young man of the middle nobility
– Polite to everyone despite his social status
– Invites Alm and company to join the Liberation Army

Silque

– Starting class: Cleric
– A traveling cleric
– Alm saves her when she is captured by thieves
– Entrusts Alm with a treasure known as “Mila’s Gear” and joins his party

Clive

– Starting class: Cavalier
– The leader of the Zophia Liberation Army, and a young man of the upper nobility
– Originally a knight of the Zophia Knights
– Started the Liberation Army with the revolt against Prime Minister Desaix

System

– Alm and Celica will progress through the continent of Valentia while each commanding their own army with different goals
– A battle begins when you come across an enemy
– Clear each point on the map, build up experience, and increase your ranks while advancing
– Can move freely throughout the entire map
– An enemy army may again appear in a place that you’ve already cleared

Battle

– Your army and the enemy’s army take turns to perform actions
– During your army’s turn, you’ll move your allies on a battlefield divided into squares to both attack enemies and support your allies
– Win by defeating the enemies at each point on the map
– Different difficultoes and modes
– Normal: For beginners and intermediate players
– Hard: For advanced players
– Casual Mode: easier mode where allies that have fallen in battle are revived at the end of the battle
– Classic: Defeated allies are not revived at the end of the battle
– Taking advantage of your army’s characteristics and the terrain, as well as cooperating with your allies to progress is the key to victory
– Depending on the weapon, you can attack from distant locations
– No limit on magic use, but consumes HP each time
– Terrain will have different effects like a change in evasion rate
