Nintendo confirms it will be skipping Gamescom 2022
Before the pandemic, Nintendo had a pretty big presence at Gamescom, but it won’t be involved with the show for 2022.
The company had playable games, stage shows with news and announcements, and more in previous years. Unfortunately though, that won’t be the case for 2022.
Gamescom wasn’t quite the same in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, but the expo will be back in full force this summer. Along with an online experience, fans are looking forward to an in-person portion as well.
However, Nintendo has confirmed in a statement that it will not be attending Gamescom 2022. Although it’s recognized as a key moment in the calendar, the company decided not to participate after careful consideration.
Nintendo further added that fans can experience games for Switch at different events in Germany, including road shows with Airstreamer and Bulli as well as locations like the SWR Summer Festival and the Stuttgart Children and Youth Festival. Additionally, the Big N will be present at the Main Matsuri Japan Festival in Frankfurt plus the DoKomi in Düsseldorf and the AnimagiC in Mannheim. Further events are in the works as well.
Gamescom 2022 will be held between August 24 and August 28, 2022. Visit the official website here for more information about the show.
