Nintendo’s gamescom 2016 plans: Pokemon live gameplay, Paper Mario, Splatoon, more
gamescom 2016 is right around the corner and Nintendo just sent out a press release announcing their full lineup and plans for the show.
The biggest highlight is probably a live gameplay demonstration of Pokemon Sun & Moon by Game Freak’s Shigeki Morimoto. This will only be the second ever live gameplay of Sun & Moon, after its initial demonstration at E3 in June. The gameplay demonstration will be streamed live on Nintendo’s German Twitch channel this Thursday, August 18th, at 17:00 CEST.
Nintendo will also use that Twitch channel to stream some live gameplay of Paper Mario: Color Splash, specifically the game’s Dark Bloo Inn level. You will have a chance to catch this on four consecutive days – August 18th, 19th and 20th at 15:00 CEST and August 21st at 15:30 CEST.
Another exciting event is the Splatoon Showdown, the ESL’s (Electronic Sports League) Splatoon eSports tournament. Following an introduction by Splatoon producer Hisashi Nogami, the finals will be livestreamed on Twitch.tv/ESL at 15:00 CEST on August 17th.
Another long-anticipated game that’ll be at gamescom is Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Attendees will be able to play the game for themselves and there will also be a livestream showcasing it on August 19th, 17:00 CEST till 18:00 CEST.
Mario Party: Star Rush will not be livestreamed, but you can try it out for yourself if you’re attending gamescom, specifically the new Toad Scramble mode.
Finally, several indie developers will be present at Nintendo’s booth to showcase their games, including Shin’en Multimedia’s FAST Racing NEO, Image & Form’s SteamWorld Collection, Axiom Verge, Rain Games’ World to the West and 13AM Games’ Pirate Pop Plus! and Runbow Pocket.
