This information/image comes from Capcom’s Wes Phillips

“More info regarding SSFIV 3D online functionality coming next week. In the meantime, please put this away …”

I’m assuming that we’ll hear more about Super Street Fighter IV 3D’s online functionality as well as the 3DS’ online in general next Wednesday. And the image Phillips posted is quite interesting… is that a response to the uproar over friend codes?

– Play against others locally by choosing the Player vs. Player option from the Versus mode menu
– The mode is compatible with download play
– Create a lobby to start a local play match
– Choose the round count, battle time limit, other variables
– Other players will be able to enter the lobby to join the fight
– Comment must be chosen from a preset list
– Comment, rank, and BP will be displayed in the pre-fight versus splash screen
– Custom match for Internet play: Choose round count, time limit, areas, opponent strength, control type
– Control type option most likely for those who don’t want to play against players using the touch screen control system
– After you enter a friend code, the player against whom you fought in local or internet versus is added to your friend list
– Earn battle points by winning in either internet or local versus play
– Battle points shared between the two modes
– Arcade challenge: Adjust control type, 3D mode, time limit, and round count
– Seems as though you can set challenges to be exclusively local or internet based
– Play Data option on the main menu features: “Player Code,” “Character Code,” “Medal List,” “Friend List” and “Nickname”
– Medal List shows medals that you’ve earned so far
