Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire has been cancelled on Switch
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is no longer in development for Switch, publisher Versus Evil has announced.
That news was passed along on the company’s official Discord channel. One of the Versus Evil staffers confirmed: “Unfortunately, after much deliberation, we have decided not to move forward with Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire for the Nintendo Switch.” Additional information about the Switch version’s cancellation was not provided.
This announcement likely won’t come as much of a surprise to most fans given the lack of news surrounding the Switch edition. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire was announced for the system way back in 2018 for release that holiday, but especially over the last couple of years, things have been very quiet. The game was delayed to 2019 at one point and Versus Evil then said in August 2019 that Pillars of Eternity II would be releasing “soon” on Switch. Since then though, it’s been silent.
If you’re looking for some sort of Pillars of Eternity fix on Switch, you can at least pick up the series’ first game on Nintendo’s console. Versus Evil released Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition back in 2019. It is available digitally right now on the Switch eShop.
