Pokemon Sun / Moon cut content found – Flying Eevee evolution, mini Pokemon, raids, more
The leaks are still going strong from the recent Game Freak hack, and fans have now found quite a bit of cut content from Pokemon Sun and Moon.
First, at one point a Flying-type evolution was being considered for Eevee. However, it seems that the design was too similar to a different fan-made design and “costs would be very high”. The note from Game Freak states: “If there is a game where Flying Eevee is the main character, or if there is high value in the game, then it is not worth the high cost.” Ultimately, it was put on hold. The leak also reveals a scrapped Fire-type regional Pikachu/Raichu evolution, but no further details are available.
There are scrapped features for Pokemon Sun and Moon as well. There was a trainer level mechanic planned in which the main character can level up – not just Pokemon. After increasing proficiency, the trainer could use new skills for progression.
Another scrapped feature is mini Pokemon. Put simply, this is a smaller entity than a typical Pokemon. Mini Pokemon would be able to follow players on the field, join battles on its own for additional attacks every now and then, and provide other help such as picking up items on its own and discovering Pokemon that can be photographed with the Poke Finder.
Finally, to wrap things up, we’ll mention a few other things. As another cut Pokemon Sun and Moon mechanic, Game Freak was toying around with a raid feature in which giant Mecha Pokemon appear on the island to be faced cooperatively, and players would control up to three of their Pokemon. While the island had no recovery facilities, players would have collected berries to recover some HP and cure status conditions. A dress-up mode was also planned, but we don’t have much to go on outside of images. Finally, a removed mini-game involved visiting other worlds to solve quests with up to four players using touch controls.
Here’s a look at the latest leaks:
