PR – Nintendo UK to host Super Smash Bros. Invitational tournament

Nintendo UK has issued a press release regarding a new Super Smash Bros. Invitational tournament that will be held this year’s MCM Birmingham Comic Con. You can find the full details below.

16th March 2015 – Nintendo will host an exclusive Super Smash Bros. Invitational tournament at this year’s MCM Birmingham Comic Con, bringing together thirty-two Super Smash Bros. for Wii U community players for a live head-to-head battle at the show.

Visitors to the show will not only get the chance to watch, but can also participate in a number of Super Smash Bros. tournaments and matches throughout the weekend which will take place on both New Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Guests can also get their hands on exclusive items and limited edition stock as the Official Nintendo UK Online Store returns to the show on Saturday 21st March and Sunday 22nd March, at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham.

Thirty-two Wii U community players will go head-to-head in the Super Smash Bros. Invitational tournament, to battle it out live at the event. Two players will make it through to the grand finale, which alongside the quarter and semi-finals, will be streamed live on Twitch on Saturday 21st March starting from 2pm GMT, with the final at 4pm GMT.

It’s not just the community players who will be taking centre stage though, as Nintendo will also be hosting a number of tournaments, trials and matches across the weekend, available for all to participate in. Four-player Super Smash Bros. trials on the New Nintendo 3DS and Wii U gaming pods will be taking place throughout the weekend as well as on-stage exhibition matches hosted by the Nintendo comperes which will be themed at random. Guests can also experience the Super Smash Bros. amiibo functionality in an 8 player amiibo free-for-all tournament, as well as an amiibo team-up tournament where players team up with their amiibo to take on opponents, so don’t forget to bring your amiibo along to the show!

Those in attendance will also be able to get hold of limited edition merchandise and must-have items from the Nintendo Official UK Store including the Nintendo 3DS XL Majora’s Mask 3D Edition, the GameCube Controller Super Smash Bros. Edition and the GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U. Merchandise includes a Super Smash Bros. Wii U bundle plus the Villager amiibo, the New Nintendo 3DS XL Majora’s Mask 3D Edition with Skull Kid figurine, amiibo bundles including Yoshi, Pikachu and Samus with a carry case and much more.

Also at the event this year, the highly acclaimed Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will be available to play on New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL for the first time at MCM Birmingham Comic Con. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate experts will be on hand to give live demonstrations of the game, run ‘Learn to Hunt’ sessions and answer any questions.

This year the Nintendo exhibition stand will also host a StreetPass area, so if you’re looking to meet new Mii characters, increase your StreetPass hits, or complete achievements and challenges, then don’t forget to bring your New Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS systems.
