Rumor: Fallout 4 was once explored for Nintendo Switch
At one point in time, Bethesda was apparently looking into a Nintendo Switch version of Fallout 4.
Imran Khan, a former senior editor from Game Informer who previously leaked Everybody 1-2 Switch, shared that unconfirmed report this week. A port was allegedly being explored to the point in which Pete Hines – Bethesda’s former VP and head of publishing – told Khan’s boss “to expect it”. Khan was then told to prep a story in anticipation of a future announcement.
No one can say what happened behind the scenes. Fallout 4 never released on Nintendo Switch, but if this rumor is correct, it’s unclear why. Khan makes it seem as though Bethesda was seriously pursuing a port.
Bethesda was one of the earliest supporters on Nintendo Switch having come out with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim early on in the system’s lifecycle. It was also there with Doom 2016, one of the console’s first “impossible ports”. Other Bethesda support includes Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, and The Elder Scrolls: Blades. The one Fallout game on Nintendo Switch is Fallout Shelter, which was essentially a mobile port.
