Rumor: Immortals Fenyx Rising spin-off planned based on Hawaiian Polynesian culture
A new rumor has suggested that Immortals Fenyx Rising is getting a new spin-off planned based on Hawaiian Polynesian culture.
Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb shared what he heard about the project from a source during a Games Mess Decides podcast episode. Other tidbits include that the God narrator will again be featured, though apparently Ubisoft may go for a visual style that won’t be as similar to Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Grubb shared the following:
“Ubisoft Quebec’s sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising is not a proper sequel. It’s more of a spin-off in the same way. The production name of the game is called Oxygen – you’re a hero, a guy or a girl because Ubisoft. It’s based on Hawaiian Polynesian culture this time around. You still have a God narrator. They try to still be visually stylized, but less of a copy than Breath of the Wild. It’s in early pre-production, seen some concept art, it’s coming maybe 2025.”
A sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising was rumored this year and was claimed to be in pre-production.
If this project is truly in the works and is a few years out, it’s possible that we could end up seeing it on a new Nintendo system – whether it’s a Switch upgrade or successor.
Immortals Fenyx Rising originally launched in December 2022. Read our review of the game here.
