Rumor: Nintendo Direct happening this week, ahead of Switch 2 reveal

Multiple sources are pointing to the possibility of a Nintendo Direct taking place later this week.

This is not to be confused with the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 event planned for April 2, and is also just a few days away. We would only be hearing about games lined up for the current console.

Speculation began yesterday after a person who previously leaked a significant portion of the Nintendo Direct in June 2024 teased another event this week. This was backed up further after ninspider, who previously made a drawing of the Nintendo Switch 2 dock and tablet in October prior to the official reveal, hinting at a Direct before the big Switch 2 event.

On top of this, NateTheHate2 – who leaked the Switch 2 announcement day – says “there is a presentation this week” and “is on/around Thursday”. While it looks to be a Nintendo Direct, what format it will take is unclear. A general presentation is on the table, but we’ve also seen things like Nintendo Direct Minis and Partner Showcases.

As we always caution with rumors, there has been nothing official announced at this time. It would certainly be a curious move for Nintendo to broadcast a Direct with the big Switch 2 blowout taking place the following week, but we’ve all seen the company work in mysterious ways before.
