SEGA Genesis Switch Online adds five new games for December 2021

The SEGA Genesis Nintendo Switch Online app has just updated with five new games. Players can access Altered Beast, ToeJam & Earl, Dynamite Headdy, Sword of Vermilion, and Thunder Force II. Note that an active Expansion Pack subscription is needed – these games are not offered in the base Switch Online membership.

Nintendo typically announces new games in advance for Switch Online, so this news certainly comes as a surprise. Paper Mario was confirmed for the N64 side of things on December 2 before going live on December 10. This is also the first time that the SEGA Genesis Switch Online app has received new titles.

Next up for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack is Banjo-Kazooie. Nintendo has confirmed that the game is going live in January 2022, though a specific date hasn’t been provided. It is not yet known when the SEGA Genesis app will be updated again.
