SEGA now publishing Atlus USA games

SEGA acquired Atlus back in 2013. That process is still ongoing, but is now starting to wrap up. Going forward, SEGA will be publishing all Atlus USA games as a means to streamline its business operations.

The good news is that this news will have little impact on consumers. SEGA isn’t ditching the Atlus brand, and Atlus will still act independently.

SEGA provided Game Informer with the following comment regarding how the Atlus acquisition has benefited the company:

“Since Atlus U.S.A.—renowned for the award-winning Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, and Etrian Odyssey franchises—integrated with SEGA of America, the ATLUS expertise has allowed SEGA to localize and publish popular Japanese titles in the west, including the Yakuza series, Project DIVA series, and more.”

In other news, Ivo Gerscovich has been named as the new head of the Sonic brand and its related businesses in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. He’ll serve as the Sonic chief brand officer and senior vice president of SEGA of America.
