Smash Bros. Ultimate to host Spirit Board event based on Metroid Dread

Posted on October 6, 2021 by in News, Switch

Nintendo has revealed the next event available for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Following last week’s tournament, this week will have a new Spirit Board event featuring new spirits from Metroid Dread. These featured spirits will award bonus SP upon being defeated, and include Samus (Metroid Dread), E.M.M.I, and Chozo Soldier. The new event coincides with and celebrates the arrival of Metroid Dread.

Generally, these events rotate between tournaments and Spirit Board events. Last week for example had a tournament based on characters with wings, and the week prior, Smash Bros. Ultimate hosted a Spirit Board event starring flowers.

This week’s featured Metroid Dread Spirit Board event will start with the release date of Metroid Dread on October 8 and last five days until October 13.

Metroid Dread is the latest entry into the Metroid franchise, and the first continuation of the 2D story since it was initially teased just after the Game Boy Advance title Metroid Fusion back in 2002, so it’s no wonder that it will get its own set of spirits to celebrate. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been hosting these events every week for years now, you can catch up and keep up to date on those here.
