Super Mario 3D Land’s connection to the Mario Drawing Song

Remember the Mario Drawing Song? Nintendo created the video last year to promote a Flipnote competition for Mario’s 25th anniversary.
We’ve now seen the song return, twelve months later, in a somewhat unexpected place. As you’ve probably guessed by this point, it does in fact pop up in Super Mario 3D Land!
Because this news is somewhat spoilerish (post-game content), I’ll include the full post after the break just to be safe.
In Super Mario 3D Land, players can unlock the “Special” levels after completing World 8. When you reach the eighth Special World, you’ll encounter some music that does appear to be taken from the Mario Drawing Song.

Some of you probably figured this out already, but still, it’s a pretty neat Easter egg!
