Switch update out now (version 16.0.0), patch notes
The latest firmware update has just gone out for Switch, and all users can now access version 16.0.0.
With a big number change like that, you’d probably expect some additions or changes. However, this one appears to be on the lighter side. System stability improvements are included per usual, but there’s also a modification regarding user nicknames.
The official patch notes for the Switch version 16.0.0 update are as follows:
- User nicknames that cannot be used will be replaced with “???” which can be updated from the profile settings.
- General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.
It’s been some time since the last major Switch system update. The latest one we’ve seen with the most functionality was version 14.0.0 in March 2022. That one added a “Groups” feature on the home menu, which is essentially the system’s answer for folders. In case you missed it, you can catch up on the full details here.
Even if today’s update is on the smaller side, it would probably be wise to install it. For most users, it should be downloaded automatically.
