Switch update 16.0.3

It’s time for the latest Switch firmware update, as Nintendo just started distribution of version 16.0.3. However, there aren’t a whole lot of surprises here.

Nintendo’s patch notes are similar to what we’ve seen for Switch firmware updates as of late. Again, the company says stability improvements are the focus.

The official patch notes for the Switch version 16.0.3 update are as follows:

  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.

It’s been the same situation with Switch updates for quite some time now. Version 16.0.2, which came out last month, involved the same stability improvements. The same goes for 16.0.1 update which was made available in March. There is some thought that a big version change could include some new features, but even version 16.0.0 had its own stability improvements – the only other aspect made it so user nicknames that cannot be used are replaced with “???” which can be updated from the profile settings.

Most Switch owners should find that version 16.0.3 will be downloaded automatically. If you’re interested in accessing it immediately, head on over to the system settings, check out the “System” tab, and choose the “System Update” option. Small updates don’t take very long to download / install and that should be the case here as well.
