Switch update out now (version 18.0.0), patch notes
Nintendo has started up the latest Switch firmware update, and version 18.0.0 is rolling out worldwide.
Past updates have typically been about stability. While that’s still the case here, it’s at least slightly more exciting this time around. The Sleep Mode Settings now include a 15-minute option for auto-sleep when connected to a television. Additionally, Korean support is added for the Switch Parental controls intro video.
Here’s the official rundown of the update:
Switch update version 18.0.0 patch notes
- Added “15 Minutes” as an option for “Auto-sleep when playing on TV” in Sleep Mode Settings.
- Added Korean as a supported language for “Nintendo Switch Parental Controls” introductory video.
- When the console language is set to Korean, the video can be accessed from Settings > Parental Controls.
- General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.
Before today, the last update for Switch was version 17.0.1 at the end of December. Along with the latest stability, it fixed an issue with local communication for some software. You can read about it here.
Even version 17.0.0 was not all that noteworthy as that was entirely stability-related. You could say that version 14.0.0 in March 2022 was the last significant update as that introduced the “Groups” feature. We have more information about that here.
