Switch surpasses lifetime Wii sales in the US
Lifetime Switch sales have now surpassed those of the Wii in the United States. That’s according to the latest data from Circana, with the milestone having been reached in July.
According to GamesIndustry, “Switch lifetime sales now trail Xbox 360 by less than one million units, and PlayStation 2 by fewer than five million.” Nintendo’s console should certainly be over 40 million units sold in the United States at this point.
Worldwide Switch sales previously surpassed Wii and the original PlayStation in February 2022. At that point, Switch crossed the 103 million mark. Meanwhile, Wii’s worldwide total was at 101.63 million while the PlayStation was at 102.49 million.
As of June 30, 2023, worldwide Switch sales stand at 129.53 million. Only the DS has done better for Nintendo at 154.02 million. For the industry its its entirety, the PlayStation 2 stands at the top at 155 million.
