Nintendo is currently hosting some post-E3 appointments for the media. At one event in Europe, Battle Sports Mekuru is on display.

Battle Sports Mekuru will be going by a different name when it heads west. A kiosk shows the updated title “Flip Wars”.

Flip Wars is currently planned for release in North America and Europe this summer.

Battle Sports Mekuru debuted in Japan this month. In the west, it sounds like we won’t have to wait terribly long for the game. Speaking with USgamer, designer Senri Tsunokawa mentioned that Battle Sports Mekuru should be available this summer overseas.

If you really can’t wait for Battle Sports Mekuru, you can actually get it now. The game can be downloaded from the Japanese eShop, and it’s mostly in English.

Battle Sports Mekuru is nearly here, as the game is launching in a few hours in Japan. When the game does release, it won’t be the end of support. Over Fence is promising free update that will bring in some additions such as new items and stages. The team intends to keep players interested for as long as possible.

For those who haven’t heard, Battle Sports Mekuru is a versus game supporting up to four players. Along with local battles, online play is also supported.

Characters can be controlled with the joystick / buttons at the right. The victors of each battle will be decided in a short period, so you can play repeatedly multiple times. Play time can be set, with the shortest being 30 seconds.

Battle Sports Mekuru will launch on May 18 via the Japanese Switch eShop, Over Fence announced today. It’ll cost 980 yen. A new trailer for the game can be found below.

Project Mekuru has a new name. Over Fence is now calling the Switch title Battle Sports Mekuru, and also released a brief trailer that we’ve posted below.

Battle Sports Mekuru is planned for early summer in Japan. Over Fence will have more news to share on May 8.
