Next weekend, Pokemon GO players will have a chance to encounter Rayquaza. The Legendary Pokemon will be appearing on March 15 at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET. You’ll have until the same time on March 18 before the event ends.

Pokemon GO kicks off Battle Showdown event

Niantic has announced its latest event for Pokemon GO. Battle Showdown just went live, in which Fighting-type Pokemon such as Mankey, Machop, Makuhita, and Meditite will appear more frequently in the wild. You may also encounter Shiny Mankey and Shiny Machop if you’re lucky.

Dialga to appear in Pokemon GO Raid Battles throughout March

During March, the Steel- and Dragon-type Temporal Pokemon Dialga will be appearing in Pokemon GO. It’ll be showing up in Raid Battles between March 1 and March 28.

New avatar items have arrived in Pokemon GO. Starting today, players will find designs based around Meltan in the Style Shop. Niantic is doing this to promote Shiny Meltan, which will be live until March 4.

Pokemon GO Community Day to feature Treecko in March 2019

Niantic has confirmed that Treecko will be the next Pokemon featured for Pokemon GO Community Day next month. The fun will take place on March 23.
Per usual, Treecko will have an unspecified exclusive move for the event. Players can also look forward to 1/4 Egg hatch distance and 3-hour Lures as bonuses.

Niantic officially announces Pokemon GO’s Team Medallion, an item to change teams

Earlier this week, we heard about a new Team Medallion that had been datamined for Pokemon GO. Niantic has now made it official.
Just as was leaked, the Team Medallion lets players change teams. It can be purchased once every 365 days for 1,000 PokeCoins. Niantic will officially introduce the item on February 26 at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET.

Pokemon GO Snapshot now live on Android

The GO Snapshot that was revealed alst week by Niantic is now available for Android users in Pokemon GO.
However, at this time, only trainers that are over the level of 5 will have access to the feature. This is part of the gradual rollout that the developers intend to do in order to fine tune the addition.

Latias to appear in Pokemon GO Raid Battles this weekend

Niantic has announced a Special Raid Weekend for Pokemon GO. Starting on Friday at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET, the Legendary Pokemon Latias will be available in Raid Battles. You may also encounter Shiny Latias if you’re lucky enough.
The event ends on February 25 at the same time.

Niantic on the future of Pokemon GO

Polygon recently spoke with Niantic product manager Matt Slemon about all things Pokemon GO. Slemon talked about the mobile game’s past, present, and future.
As for what lies ahead, Slemon said that Pokemon GO is almost at “the point where our original launch trailer promise has been delivered”. While there will be “small iterations to our existing features”, the team is now going to concentrate a bit less on traditional Pokemon features and focus on “features that are more about really showing what it means to be an AR real-world game”.
