Update: Returning with new ESRB rating – Bigley’s Revenge disappears from the Wii U eShop
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 17 Comments
Update: Creator Jordan Schuetz says Bigley’s Revenge is only being removed temporarily. It’ll be back, and with a “T” rating from the ESRB. An update might happen as well.
ESRB has a form where rate what content is in your game. I marked: Violence "Mostly fantastical setting" & "Stylized depiction".
— Jordan Schuetz (@ninjapigstudios) January 16, 2016
ESRB came back today and literally marked the same boxes, however they determined for whatever reason that it should be rated Teen.
— Jordan Schuetz (@ninjapigstudios) January 16, 2016
For everyone wondering, that's why the game is off the eShop. I can resubmit the game if I wish to with the new rating.
— Jordan Schuetz (@ninjapigstudios) January 16, 2016
Bigley's Revenge is now rated Teen by ESRB.

Bigley's Revenge can't be listed on the eShop again until I submit a new ROM to Nintendo. Maybe I'll make some improvements to the game also
— Jordan Schuetz (@ninjapigstudios) January 16, 2016
No one would have to repurchase Bigley's Revenge. They would receive an update.

Indie game Bigley’s Revenge may have been removed from the Wii U eShop. It’s nowhere to be found in the store, and searching for the game returns no results. The same goes for the Miiverse community.
This wouldn’t be the first time that a Wii U eShop from Ninja Pig Studios has been removed. Meme Run suffered a similar fate over a copyright issue. Bigley’s Revenge also features several memes, so it’s possible that’s come into play here as well. We won’t have a clear answer until Ninja Pig Studios provides an official update.

Trollface creator talks about Meme Run’s eShop removal, dev not sure if the game will return
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 7 Comments
Meme Run was taken down from the Wii U eShop last month. Once the dust settled, it was revealed that the move came about due to a copyright claim involving the trollface meme.
Kotaku reached out to trollface creator Carlos Ramirez about the situation and was told the following:
“People message me. ‘Hey, look, your trollface was used here! You oughta sue these guys.’ I just say ‘Okay, I’ll look at it.’ And I look at it. If it’s a really minor thing, I can’t be bothered with it. It’ll take too much time, and let people have their fun. If they’re not making any significant money on it, it’s like, eh, not a big deal. If you’re publishing a game on a major platform and it’s using my image, it’s kind of hard to ignore.”
“It’s really troublesome when you’re making a game comprised entirely of memes. It’s a big problem of copyright infringement, all across the board, and I guess I was the only one with enough time to go out of my way and shake it down.”
Meme Run was pulled from the Wii U eShop due to copyright claim

Following yesterday’s talk about Meme Run being removed from the Wii U eShop, we now have confirmation that this is indeed what occurred.
“Trollface” meme creator “Whynne” approached Ninja Pig Studios about the image’s use earlier this year and attempted to settle the situation amicably. However, he “claimed that he was not at liberty to speak about his relationship with Nintendo or any of the particulars regarding the game’s sales data.” Ultimately, this is what led to the game’s removal from the eShop.
Whynne goes on to say that Meme Run’s “absence might only be temporary.” He also apologized to those who had intended to purchase the title and can no longer do so.
You’ll find Whynne’s full comments after the break.

Meme Run taken off the Wii U eShop?
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U eShop | 21 Comments
Has Meme Run been removed from the North American Wii U eShop? At the moment, that appears to be the case.
There’s no sign of the game on the eShop. Its Miiverse community is gone as well. However, Meme Run is still listed on Nintendo’s website.
We’ll keep track of the situation, and will update this post if any additional information comes in.

Ninja Pig Studios decides against publishing Jumpy Cat on the Wii U eShop
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 4 Comments
Jumpy Cat will no longer be coming to the eShop. Ninja Pig Studios, the game’s publisher, has confirmed that there are no longer plans to publish the game.
Ninja Pig Studios’ Jordan Schuetz wrote on Twitter last week:
@photonstorm thanks for the advice. The game won't be published so it's irrelevant, but thanks for the heads up. Didn't know about that.

Upcoming Wii U eShop game “Jumpy Cat” accused of featuring stolen pixel art
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 4 Comments
Ninja Pig Studios’ next Wii U game, Jumpy Cat, was slated for the North American Wii U eShop this Thursday. But in light of accusations that the game includes artwork taken from a tutorial featured on Photon Storm’s blog, the game’s launch could be either postponed or cancelled.
The situation started when Photon Storm’s Richard Davey posted a message on Twitter in which he petitioned Nintendo of America to halt Jumpy Cat’s release.
Hi @NintendoAmerica who do we contact to get this game removed from Wii U shop? It's using our stolen art http://t.co/TyXCnPQoUg
— Richard Davey (@photonstorm) January 20, 2015
Ninja Pig Studios’ Jordan Schuetz responded soon after, though the situation was not settled.
@photonstorm we found it on open game art. The license said we were allowed to use commercially + we changed the coloring and style.
— Jordan Schuetz (@ninjapigstudios) January 20, 2015
Davey seems to have taken issue with the fact that images from Photon Storm’s tutorial can only be used in projects that are entirely free. Ninja Pig Studios would have asked consumers for 99 cents with its Jumpy Cat title.
Nintendo’s official page for Jumpy Cat has been pulled. The game’s current status is unclear.
