Chapter 1 of the Mystery Adventure Mode story takes place in Greece. The “Beast Fang Necklace” that was stolen from the Museum in Prologue originated from Greece, so Donchan and friends chase the Hexagria organization to that country. When there, they arrive at a city with the infrastructure of ancient era Greece. This Greek town has a solemn scenery, but when Donchan plays his taiko, it stimulates the city, and its citizens thought that Donchan is the ‘Messenger of Sun God Apollon’, and ended up depending on him. Later on Donchan would end up getting caught in eliminating a dragon that is running amok in a sanctuary.
The introduced character in this Greece arc is Heracles, the famous Greek hero who excels in martial arts. However, he’s been in a slump because he was unable to beat the dragon on his own.
The dragon mentioned until now is Leviathan, the boss of the first chapter. It has high attack power, but it can also spew intrusive lava that will explode and hamper visibility on play area.
A new gameplay feature is Taiko Magic, where Donchan unleashes special powers from his taiko that can turn the tide of battle. Effects vary from damaging enemies to healing allies. There’s a Taiko Magic gauge that fills as the player performs well. When the gauge is full, players will be able to press the Taiko Magic mark at top of lower screen. The gauge can also be stocked to level 3. It’s up to the player if they want to wait until the gauge is fully stocked for maximum effects, or use the magic as soon as it’s available.
Clash Notes are also in the game. This is a special type of note which if appears on the play screen, triggers a mashing battle against the enemy. Tap the touch screen repeatedly and quickly to win the clash and deal massive damage to enemy. If the player loses, the party will be hit with big damage instead.
The last point is about tie-up with the children comic “Time Travel to 3 Eras” published on April 15. It has two characters from Mystery Adventure’s prequel “Don & Katsu’s Great Space-Time Adventure”: Takkun the rabbit and Chikkun the clock. But it’s also noted that characters and settings from this Mystery Adventure game will also appear in the comic. The comic’s wrapper has a QR code, which if scanned will unlock Takkun and Chikkun as partners in this game’s Mystery Adventure mode.
