Could Tekken 8 come to Nintendo Switch 2 at some point in the future? Katsuhiro Harada, the game’s director, isn’t ruling out the possibility.

Harada said in a recent interview that a port is “not totally off the table”. While noting that it could help Bandai Namco reach “a bigger audience,” bringing it over “would require a lot of work”.

Harada’s full words about Tekken 8 on Nintendo Switch 2 are as follows, as reported by Eurogamer:

“It’s an interesting option, and not totally off the table. But it would require a lot of work on the game to get it running on that hardware. From a business standpoint, [the Switch 2] is doing quite well, so it would be a very good business decision if you’re trying to get a bigger audience. But the amount of work that would have to be done on the game makes it not a very easy decision. At this point in time, there are no… (laughs) There is nothing to announce.”

There’s already precedent for the fighters on Nintendo Switch 2 with Street Fighter 6, one of the bigger releases in the genre over the past few years, made it out for launch a few months ago. We also know that Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. and Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection are planned for the system.

Bandai Namco has also given Nintendo Switch 2 a good amount of support thus far, and we’d expect the publisher to continue its efforts going forward. Outside of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, its lineup includes Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition and Little Nightmares 3, Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac, Shadow Labyrinth, and Tamagotchi Plaza.
