Wild Hearts S sequel

The developers behind Wild Hearts S have spoken more about the game, including the decision to shy away from introducing new content and wanting to make a sequel.

Japanese magazine Famitsu recently spoke with director Takuto Edagawa about the release. One of the topics brought up is how on Nintendo Switch 2, there’s now support for four players whereas the original version only supported three. Koei Tecmo was able to fulfill its original vision and also responded to requests for that additional player slot.

Edagawa said the following:

“We included that as we felt that the Nintendo Switch 2 was a platform that really encouraged everyone having fun together, such as with GameChat. In actuality, the original version also was initially planned to support four players. But during the process, we felt that four players using Karakuri may be a bit overpowered, so went with three players instead. But actually even at that time there were people saying they wanted to play with four. So please enjoy it together in groups of four this time.”

Edagawa was also asked if the team considered adding new things such as more enemies or weapons. In response, he said:

“We did think about adding things, but if we did, then these things should also be in the original version. If we just added them to Wild Hearts S people who had played from the beginning would see this version as the definitive version, and that didn’t feel right. That would make things quite difficult, so we decided for now we wanted people who didn’t know the original to be able to play the same game, and then if things go well from there, then maybe that could lead to whatever comes next.”

Finally, Famitsu asked if there’ll be a sequel if Wild Hearts S becomes a hit. We get to hear from Edagwa as well as producer Kotaro Hirata on this, in which they stated:

Hirada: Of course we would like to make more. It’s very much a title filled with our love.

Edagwa: I really think it’s a title with lots of potential and while developing ‘Wild Hearts S’ we did think about wanting to make a sequel.

Wild Hearts S is now available on Nintendo Switch 2. We have more news about the console here.
