Another round of Japanese developers discuss their future plans

Famitsu chatted with another handful of Japanese developers this week. The magazine once again asked a number of directors and producers to talk about their future plans.

Some of the participants include Katsura Hashino, Kenichiro Takaki, and Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi. There’s a lot of vague talk about upcoming projects, but the comments are very much interesting. Hashino, for instance, revealed that he’s working on a surprise collaboration while Takaki has already confirmed that another Rune Factory game will be made.

Check out a summary of the developer remarks below.

Team Persona’s Katsura Hashino

– His team is focuses on the next numbered Persona game, Persona 5
– Shigenori Soejima has submitted sketches for the project
– Game is making progress
– Hashino is also working on a collaborative project that will surprise everyone
– Announcement won’t be made for awhile

Marvelous Entertainment’s Kenichiro Takaki

– Plans to take Senran Kagura into other areas outside of anime
– He has an idea for the Wii U that he feels would work well
– This is nothing more than idea in his head currently
– Takaki will continue to work hard on games that make you say “they’ve made another game that makes no sense”

Marvelous Entertainment’s Yoshifumi Hashimoto

– Hashimoto says Rune Factory 4 was well-received
– The company has already decided to make another entry in the series
– Hashimoto wants to make a totally original title and is making preparations for this

Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi

– Announcement on the future of the Sengoku Basara series will be made at an upcoming event

5pb’s Shikura Chiyomaru

– Working on two games
– A game set in Shibuya will be released in 2013
– Hopes to release the fourth game in the science adventure series in Spring of next year
– Chiyomaru is putting effort in porting his games over to smartphones

Gust’s Yoshito Okamura

– Atelier Ayesha wasn’t influenced much by Tecmo Koei’s acquisition of Gust
– Okamura is currently studying so that the next game will be able to draw out the best elements of the new parent company
– Wants to make developments in a variety of media outside of games
– Ayesha saw an increase in the amount of female players
– Gust’s next title will have the image of an orthodox RPG
