On Thursday, a presentation will be held on Niconico for the new Fatal Frame Wii U game and related media efforts such as the upcoming movie. The event seems to be rather significant – as one would expect – given some of the guests attending.

Perhaps mostly importantly, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto will be showing up for this week’s presentation. Other guests include staff from Kadokawa and Koei Tecmo, Keisuke Kikuchi (Fatal Frame series), Shin Kibayashi (the author of the manga), Mari Asato (movie director), Nakajo Ayami (actress) and Aoi Morikawa (actress).

No Fatal Frame for the West again? What a joke, especially for a Wii U exclusive.

There has been no confirmation that it will or won’t be localized, however it would be pretty pointless for Nintendo to make such a big fuss about it and it not be localized. You won’t get a return on your investment with just the Japanese audience. Especially with the amount of money in game development costs there are now.

It is Nintendo. They did that many times, don’t you remember it?

        • D2K

I didn’t say they wouldn’t do it. I said makes no sense to do that. With the Wii it was understandable there wasn’t a lot of localization because the sales of the console were out of control. When you have a console that is fledgling and you know for a fact that people have said Nintendo doesn’t pump out enough mature games one would think that a game like this would be front and center.

I hope that you are right. They are doing a lot of PR about it and yet no word on a localization. And the gamepad is begging for this game, it just fits it perfectly.

Would be heaven if they ended up remaking the at least one of the Wii games for the Wii U and releasing first or including on the same disc of Fatal Frame 5.

Nintendo needs to start making more movies based on IPs. If Nintendo had their own movie studio they would clean up.

I agree but if this were to happen and Nintendo went with a “made in japan” attitude towards movie making then I don’t see it being much of a success worldwide. Also imo Metroid could be turned into a really good live action.

Well that is where Fils-Aime would have to take control. I’m sure he has contacts with people in Hollywood. It seems at though of late Iwata has given a somewhat longer leash for Fils-Aime. A lot of the recent happenings seem very un Iwata-like. The whole Robot Chicken thing at E3 had to be all Fils-Aime’s or Trinen’s idea. As long as Iwata gets out of the way then it could work, but if it happened like you said then no it probably wouldn’t.

Yeah I’m hoping the Japanese management heads realize that they don’t understand the west as well as they thought they did and give more independence and funding to NoA.

wait, Fatal Frame is a collaboration between Kadodawa and Tecmo Koei?

Fatal Frame game on Wii U….. Well it’s genius in my opinion. Using the GamePad as a camera and obviously you could make use of Panorama view. Game could end up being one of the best in the franchise if done well.
