Oh man, I presume there was, in fact, too much water?

  • awng781

    “IGN – 7.8 / 10”

Okay, IGN…What was there too much of this time??

    • NeptuniasBeard

From the review, it looks like it was enemies. One enemy in particular who summons near infinite enemies

    • MusubiKazesaru

It was actually “Not enough shipping”

  • “7.8/10 too much boat maps” -IGN

  • Devlind

Those are some good ratings. I haven’t got around fates yet, so I’ll wait a little longer to grab this game.

    • Vigilante_blade

I would skip Fates and get this first. It is a better game than Fates.

  • Airsh Bornely

I expected mostly positive reviews. Glad I wasn’t wrong!

  • KnightWonder

I see IGN deducted points for too many battles.

  • O.H. X-1990

Typical IGN reviewers, always giving good games, like Fire Emblem Echoes, the lower ratings just because they feel like it. I guess Fire Emblem Warriors is next.

    • Reiianuo

That seems like such a strange criticism of IGN, here in particular, considering it really is the middle of the road in terms of score here.

Also, can we stop thinking that 7.5 is a bad score?

      • O.H. X-1990

Nope, anything below 8.0 is considered as a “bad score” to IGN. They can all suck it for giving this game a low score.

        • Justin Hewitt

7.8 is actually considered good by IGN. In fact, if you go to the review it even says “Good” next to the score. They occasionally talk on their podcasts about how people have the perception that games in their 7’s are bad games when really they’re not.

          • O.H. X-1990

Good, but not good enough, not even to IGN. It’s obvious that what they wanted is perfection, and according to IGN, this game is not perfect at all. What a joke.

    IGN – 7.8 / 10

    Too much Tiles and Grids

  • Fandangle

I expect a lot of “waah, it’s not awakening” and I’ll rejoice as all the cancerous new FE fans leave. Maybe it’ll go back to being niche and we can stop it with all this DLC and player insert bull and go back to being a great classic SRPG franchise instead of the mediocre and relatively easy grindfest they’ve become.

    • Vigilante_blade

To be fair, this game is an easy grind, but even then, late me is a challenge. I won’t say does not have issues, but it has a lot more heart when compared to Fates or Awakening. I feel the love from the devs.

      • Fandangle

It is an easy grind, but grinding at all is questionable and not really a part of FE as a whole. Old FE games were all about managing your resources and making sure you didn’t waste anything, which made the perma death mechanic more interesting. Now it’s just a casual, laid back SRPG like any other.

        • Vigilante_blade

Actually, you do not even need to grind in this. This can be beaten with minimal shrine visits.

    • TanukiTrooper

Those cancerous new fans kept the series alive. Without them you wouldn’t have a Fire Emblem to play at all…

      • Fandangle

Gee golly, do I want a shambling corpse of a franchise full of fans that don’t care at all for the series and just want waifu simulators or do I want the series dead.

I’d rather the series be dead honestly.

  • chancetime

About what I expected, overall great reviews with a few ‘ok’ ones due to the massive style switch from Fates to now.
