New Fatal Frame revealed for Wii U

Posted on April 21, 2014 by (@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U

Famitsu has pulled back the curtain on another Nintendo/Tecmo Koei collaboration: Fatal Frame for Wii U. We don’t have any details just yet, but the magazine does share information about multimedia projects to expand the franchise in general.

These include:

– Tecmo Koei is expanding the franchise through a series of new multimedia expansions
– From Kadokawa Corporation, a live-action film starring Seventeen magazine models Ayami Nakajo and Aoi Morikawa is in production for a fall release
– Bilocation director Mari Asato is directing
– From Kadokawa Horror Bunko and Multiple Personality Detective Psycho and The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service author Eiji Otsuka, an original novel is due out in August.
– From Kodansha and Kindaichi Case Files writer Shin Kibayashi (known by his pen name Tadashi Agi), a comic is also planned

I can’t believe they didn’t wait for E3 to announce this. Unless they don’t plan to localize.

The fact that they did announce this now is a good sign. If something this big happened outside of E3, it might mean even LARGER things are in-store for the show. I’m intrigued.

Yeah, one way to look at it. I’m on board.

I’m on record for being one of Nintendo’s biggest critics in terms of their decision making processes, but I am also one of their biggest cheerleaders when I see them make good decisions. This is a smart move.

The Wii U right now is selling like salt a a slug farm. After the NPD report came out even more negativity fell their way. The fact that they had a Nintendo Direct with NO IWATA and giving Smash Bros fans just about everything they wanted to hear, plus this makes me feel that Nintendo is starting to become quicker on the draw.

Building up hype leading into E3 is a good thing, but only if they “bring-it.” They can’t lay an egg. I’m cautiously optimistic.

Nintendo always does good up till E3, then after it starts to slack off again. Just like Wrestlemania season in WWE. After the big event it goes down again.

          • D2K

            Yeah..I can see the comparison.

That analogy… I will steal that and use it elsewhere 🙂

Probably it is going to be show at E3, so they only made this dry announcement to get people interested.

  • D2K

    Hmm. That’s more like it.

    Great news! Unexpected great news!

I reckon we’ll see this localized this time. It’d be senseless to exclude their largest market with a potentially big selling game when the console isn’t doing so well.

  • Ivan Luna

this need to be localized the 3DS game left me waiting more.

  • RedRocBoy

This the thing that get me bout Nintendo they don’t give any mention of what’s to come. Nothing, and they have us on the edge of our seats. Damn Nintendo! I love you!

    • Yeah. I love and hate that about them. lol

  • Nice… if it gets localized. Wii U really needs exclusives like this. Hope they have more under their sleeves for E3.

    • Jumwa

With how little the WiiU has on its plate, they better not even think of failing to localize releases like this. It’d be quite cruel to those of us who bought their console outside Japan.

      • TalesOfBS

Hard to say it but in this case i am glad the Wii U is lacking games because now Nintendo is forced to localize and advertise this series.

        • Jumwa

I’ll believe that when I see it. Nintendo has been incredibly stubborn in the past with these sorts of things, refusing to localize games for the Wii when that system was drying up in the end with no new content. Or back on the Gamecube.

I hope it’s true, but I’m not counting on it.

  • TalesOfBS

Now i just hope they will release (and localize) Hd versions of Project Zero 2 Wii Edition or Zero Tsukihami no Kamen.

  • Blue Hernandez

This would be awesome if it came to the States!

  • SecretX

sounds great hopefully it get a NA release :/
