Splatoon 2’s first week sales are 59% higher in the UK than the original

Splatoon 2 just missed out on the top spot on this week’s UK charts. It came in second, following Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy. On the whole, Splatoon 2 is off to a good start.

You might be interested to hear that Splatoon 2’s first week sales outsold the original. The sequel shifted 59 percent more copies. Splatoon 2 is also Switch’s third biggest launch in the UK after Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

New Switch stock entered the market last week. The move increased sales of Mario Kart by 60 percent and Zelda: Breath of the Wild by 20 percent.

Good, I guess, but isn’t there some info about how many copies any of these games sold ?

Splatoon 2 sold around 28,000 copies at launch.

        Thanks, good to know.
That doesn’t sound all that impressive compared to Japanese numbers but I guess it’s quite a lot if it so narrowly missed the top spot.

Japan will obviously be Spkatoon 2’s biggest market, but it should see great sales in other western territories like North America and mainland Europe.

Nobody should have had super high expectations for the Splatoon 2 in the UK. The original Splatoon couldn’t even crack the Top 50 best selling games of 2015 in the UK, getting outsold by the previous year’s Mario Kart 8.

Nintendo hasn’t been big in the UK in decades
You shouldn’t be surprised. Regarding European numbers, you should check Germany and France.

It’s a Chinese knock-off of that famous Nintendo game with the squids I think.

SPALTOON 2? The title needs to be fixed.

  • hi-chan!

    The heck is Spaltoon 2

Crash insane trilogy is a great collection no doubt but people seem to forget it’s also price cheaper than your usual full price game so of course something that is nostalgic and at a lower price is going to sell a sh*t ton.

    Splatoon 2 Japan launch sales…
    – Media Create numbers: 648,000
    – Famitsu numbers: 671,000
=> Discrepancy between Media Create and Famitsu numbers: 23,000

Splatoon 2 UK launch sales: 28,000

For Splatoon, the UK market is literally a rounding error.
