Zelda: Breath of the Wild update out now (version 1.3.3)

Posted on November 8, 2017 by (@NE_Brian) in News, Switch, Wii U

Update: Full patch notes added below.

Original: A new update has gone live for Zelda: Breath of the Wild. If you’ve purchased the game, version 1.3.3 is now available.

We’re still waiting on the official patch notes from Nintendo. However, we know that the main purpose of the update is to add in the new Xenoblade Chronicles 2 side quest and outfit that Rex wears in that game.

Once you’ve downloaded the update and started the game, you should receive the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 quest. The description is as follows:

The southern sky from the middle of the largest bridge. The eastern sky from the skull’s left eye. The southeastern sky from the peak of the tall, pierced snowy mountain.

Look to the night sky at those locations and find the red shooting stars!

Stars left: 3

Patch notes

– Added support for the Revali / Daruk / Urbosa / Mipha amiibo
– Xenoblade Chronicles 2 side quest and collaboration equipment added
– Fixed an issue with Hero’s Path Mode in which “x marks” weren’t recorded with version 1.3.0 or later
– Various fixes to improve the gameplay experience

    Wait! Hold up!
So they were able to PROGRAM NEW TYPES OF SHOOTING STARS into a side quest?!
Does no one other than me realize how much potential this has?!

    • AquaBat

Copy shooting star assets, recolor to red, make reward outfit instead of Star Piece. Doesn’t seem difficult to do in the grand scheme.

My point is that there’s a lot of applications for this beyond just a sidequest or two, and that Nintendo really should be abusing it for the sake of adding more content into the game.

        • AquaBat

In cases like this, it’s very easy for any company to add whatever they want into their game, it’s whether or not they can justify doing so regardless of how easy it is.

    • Hawkuro

That’s pretty trivial if the code base makes any sort of sense… it’d be a sign of really bad practice if they couldn’t do this easily in fact, and considering how solidly the game runs it’s obvious that that is not the case.

Lol we all thought from the image the other day it was just two pieces of armor. This makes 99 confirmed unique armor pieces, out of 100 slots. If they confirm more than one new armor piece we don’t already know about we’re screwed without an inventory expansion.

Can’t find the snowy mountain one, I guess is Mount Lanayru but I can’t find the last piece!

The framerate seems to become worse after the update.

It’s a bot, block it and move on.

  • i paid for the dlc but nothing really seems like it would recreate the initial wonder i had playing this game

  • MagcargoMan

Has anybody else tried farming farosh horn shards? Farosh isn’t spawning out of the usual lake (riola lake I think is what it’s called) at 5am for me anymore
