We have some crossover Nintendo and PC news, as Steam is now supporting the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller and GameCube Controller.

The functionality has come about with the Steam Client Beta which released yesterday. Nintendo Switch 2 controllers now work when connected over USB on Windows. There’s also support for GameCube adapters in Wii U mode with rumble on Windows.

This isn’t the only time in recent years that PC has added in support for Nintendo controllers. In 2022, the platform made it so that the Nintendo Switch NES, SNES, N64, and SEGA Genesis controllers were compatible. Joy-Con support also rolled out that year as well.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller can be purchased at all major retailers. However, the GameCube controller is exclusive to Nintendo’s store for Switch Online members.
