Astral Chain director Takahisa Taura possibly gone from PlatinumGames
While there have been no official announcement as of yet, it’s looking like Astral Chain director Takahisa Taura could be gone from PlatinumGames.
Speculation first began after Taura, along with others who had worked at the studio, removed the “PG” from their handles on social media. That was certainly a sign, but not enough to say anything definitive. On top of that though, fans have now spotted that Taura’s Facebook page lists “Eel Game Studio”.
Eel Game Studio is something that doesn’t seem to bring up much at present. But based on registration data, the address points to the company having formed in Tokyo. As of now it’s unclear what Taura’s exact role at Eel Game Studio is, though he could be the founder.
PlatinumGames took its biggest hit last year after Hideki Kamiya left the studio and established his own company Clovers. Currently he’s teaming up with Capcom on a sequel to Okami. PlatinumGames isn’t dead though – it was just revealed yesterday that the developer is working on Ninja Gaiden 4, which has not been confirmed for a Nintendo platform at present.
Kamiya and the possible loss of Taura wouldn’t be the only notable departures for PlatinumGames. We also reported on Bayonetta Origins director Abebe Tinari departing, which you can read about here.
