Capcom’s collaboration with Nintendo for Monster Hunter 4 goes beyond costumes. Following today’s Monster Hunter 4 Direct, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata tweeted two extra pieces of information.

First, players will be able to customize their guild cards with Nintendo-themed backgrounds. Iwata showed Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong examples:

Another Nintendo tie-in pertains to poses. Iwata also released a couple of images – again for Mario and Zelda – feature some of the characters posing in special ways against Nintendo backgrounds:

Players will be able to dress their main hero in Monster Hunter 4 as Link from The Legend of Zelda. Watch a trailer showing the collaboration with Nintendo above.


The Monster Hunter 4 Direct is currently underway. We’ll be updating this post with details as they come in.

– For multiplayer, you have to click on a world map button and choose between various options
– Friends can directly join from the friendslist
– Can still create or find rooms
– With finding a room, you can pick the skill level and difficulty of quests
– There is a full chat function, with which you can communicate with players in the lobby
– There are the pre-installed options for you to enter (“Hello”, “Thanks”, etc.)
– The quest begins and and they quickly run to the box to get some items
– We see them duking it out against a gigantic creature. Everyone is trying their own strategy.
– It seems all pretty seemless, as you can all walk around freely. Chat function always active in the corner.
– Finishing the monster off is done a quick timey sort of way
– Monster Hunter 4 themes are being discussed. It is, according to them, very clearly shown in the opening.
– The game’s theme is also used in commercials, as it presents everything quite well
– There is also new function called an… item sensor? It allows you to find the more important items really
– They are talking about that the character can jump now. Which allows for more action packed adventures
– The game still features a story, which is expanded a bit more in comparison to previous games
– You journey to different places, take on quests and they are many NPCs too.

Monster Hunter 4 players will be able to dress up their Felyne with special Nintendo garb. Announced during today’s Nintendo Direct, it will be possible to give them Mario and Luigi costumes.



Presentation will begin at 7 AM ET / 4 AM PT. The broadcast will last 29 minutes.


The 3DS Game Card Case is sold out over on the North American Club Nintendo website, but it’s still going strong in Japan. Actually, the country has received several new designs – each of which can be found in the gallery above.

A-Train 3D, the latest entry in the long-running series, is hitting Japan on December 12. Pricing is set at 6,090 yen.

As usual, Artdink is in charge of development. A-Train 3D follows the acclaimed DS game “A-Train DS”, where the title has undergone various upgrades. New details include the cityscape being able to change over time, and there is also the possibility of Bullet Train being applied.
