Just wanted to give you guys the quick update about this app. Should be a fun little tool! Anyway, I’ll have a few more posts later tonight and Austin will be back for more news. And tomorrow afternoon, I’ll be back to work on the site!

Hatena is proud to announce the launch of Flipnote Hatena – a web service for posting and sharing Flipnotes – for the United States and Canada. This service is used in conjunction with Flipnote Studio, available for download from the Nintendo DSi Shop starting today.

Flipnote Studio is a free, downloadable Nintendo DSiWare application available to any Nintendo DSi user with access to a wireless broadband internet connection. By connecting to the internet and accessing Flipnote Hatena through Flipnote Studio, you can post your own Flipnotes, view Flipnotes posted by other users, add ? to your favorites and more.

Posted Flipnotes can also be viewed on the Flipnote Hatena website, provided by Hatena Co., Ltd. Log in to this website with a Hatena ID to have even more fun with Flipnotes with features such as posting comments and sorting Flipnotes by channel.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it, especially with all of the rave reviews the game is getting. I’d be far more surprised if the game didn’t come than if it did.

In a recent Iwata Asks interview, Nintendo’s President stated that Flipnote Studio will help bring to life Nintendo’s relationship with the internet.

“I think from now on the relationship between Nintendo’s game consoles and the Internet will deepen now that there’s a way for people to easily bring their ideas to life and present them to others – the same way that today they fire off emails right and left. Flipnote Studio can be a place where people share their creations with each other and offer each other applause.

I would love it if Flipnote Studio led the way for software making it possible for people to share their creativity in that way. Everyone, let’s give it our best! (laughs) Thank you for sharing your thoughts today.” -Nintendo President Satoru Iwata

A lead Nintendo developer also stated that Flipnote was originally going to be a WiiWare game before they knew anything about the DSi.

“We talked about making it into WiiWare, so if you connected to the network you could exchange notes with lots of people, not just with your friends. At the time, we didn’t know anything about the Nintendo DSi.” – Yoshiaki Koizumi, Nintendo’s EAD Tokyo

– You can customize the layout of the Safari Zone and send it to your friends to use, such as changing where certain Pokemon appear among other things.
– The bug catching contest will only happen on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, just like the original games.
– Apricorns can be mixed into drinks that increase your Pokemon’s Pokethlon stats. This is probably the replacement for Poffins and Pokeblocks.
– To make this “Apricorn Juice”, mix the various apricorns into an “Apricorn Shaker” and walk around. Eventually the juice will be made and usable.
– The scans mention a new “Frontier Front”, though it doesn’t go into to detail about it.
– Wi-Fi event in which you can unlock the “Yellow Forest” route on the Pokewalker to capture Pikachu is discussed.
– It is unknown if Pikachu will have any special abilities via this Wi-fi event, but artwork may suggest it will be a flying Pikachu.
– Three new Pokethlon events are revealed: Break Block, Change Relay, and Push Circle. Break Block seems to involve karate chopping brick blocks, Change Relay is another race but with only one of your Pokemon, and Push Circle seems to be another ring match in which you knock Pokemon out of a ring.
– The scan reaffirms that Kyogre can only be caught in HeartGold, while Groudon can only be caught in SoulSilver.

I must say, as time goes on I’m just more and more impressed with this game. At first I wasn’t convinced at all, but more and more information keeps arising and now I’m closer to purchasing it then ever. Just give me the ability to battle random people online and I’ll be set…
