Namco Bandai must be very pleased with its latest Taiko Drum Master games. The company has announced that Taiko Drum Master: The Little Dragon and the Mysterious Orb for 3DS and Taiko Drum Master: Super Splendid Edition for Wii have shipped over 500,000 copies each. Given how these two titles were only released in Japan, that’s not too shabby.

Nintendo has significant marketing plans Animal Crossing: New Leaf. In the UK, the company plans to launch a “large TV campaign from launch which will run across the summer and we’ll be supporting it via press in both gamer and kids titles.” Promotion through Twitter and Facebook

Nintendo UK product manager Roger Langford told MCV:

“We’re excited to be bringing Animal Crossing New Leaf to the UK. It’s our biggest focus for 3DS this summer. We’re looking forward to exciting both existing fans and introducing new comers to the franchise. We’ll have a large TV campaign from launch which will run across the summer and we’ll be supporting it via press in both gamer and kids titles. The launch of the Facebook and Twitter pages means momentum is already starting to grow.”

Animal Crossing will be returning to the portable space following Animal Crossing: City Folk for Wii. The series is best-suited for handhelds, Langford says.

“Handheld is the natural home for Animal Crossing as it’s very much a game that players want to dip in and out of.”

Japanese blogs have been “ablaze” with talk about the Wii U version of Yakuza 1 & 2 HD. There is a thought that it suffers from slightly worse visuals compared to its PlayStation 3 counterpart that came out in Japan last year. Based on images released thus far, the Wii U version seems to possess some slightly jaggier edges, and an overall downgrade – though minor – in graphics.
