Saints Row: Drive By cancelled
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 0 comments
I suppose THQ wasn’t too happy when people laughed at the Saints Row 3DS announcement at E3 last year. Okay, that probably had nothing to do with anything at all, but the company has confirmed that the title has been cancelled. A representative simply said, “We are not developing Saints Row: Drive By.” For now at least, this ends any possibility of seeing the franchise on the 3DS. Series followers will be forced to check out the upcoming PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 project to get their Saints Row fix this year.

Reggie on Wii price drop, reason to purchase a Wii with Project Cafe coming, slipping Wii sales
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii, Wii U | 0 comments
Reggie Fils-Aime discussing the Wii price drop…
“For us this is a very important move. This is only the second price reduction for Wii hardware since we launched back in November 2006. And in the last home console cycle, the leading system at the time sold almost 50 percent of its volume at a price point of $149 or below.”
Reggie on why consumers would purchase a Wii with Project Cafe on the horizon…
“When we launch our new home system sometime in 2012 we think the consumer buying in will look very different than the consumer who’s going to be buying a Wii now. What we’ve seen in this business it that there are certain consumers who love being first – they have to have the absolute latest hardware – and there are other consumers that are perfectly happy to wait until the game library is much more robust and they have a wider range of options.”
Reggie on slipping Wii sales…
“Typically a system peaks in the second year of availability and then gradually declines. Wii was fortunate to have a number of very strong selling years in its 3rd and 4th year of availability. And from our perspective, the curve that we’re on is natural and to be expected but importantly, the sales curve is higher than any other system.”
Reggie’s thoughts on why May 15 is the perfect timing for the Wii price drop…
“There are a lot of households where kids will be off from school and the parents are either looking for celebratory presents as the children finish the school year or they’re looking for a fun exercise to keep the kids busy and happy during the summer time frame. We think there is a wide range of consumers that are wanting to purchase a Wii and what they have been waiting for is this type of announcement.”
Konami hosting first Pre-E3 Show 2011

I can’t believe how hyped I am for this. Last year, Konami hosted one of the most legendary E3 conferences in history. There were no mind-blowing announcements, but the speakers at the event make the conference incredibly entertaining. Here’s hoping that this year’s “Pre-E3 Show” is just as enjoyable!
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – May 4, 2011 – Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced the company’s first-annual global Pre-E3 Show 2011. For the first time in company history, KONAMI will invigorate fans and gaming enthusiasts by releasing company news, game trailers and exclusive interviews via an internationally coordinated online screening event. To further promote its official debut on June 2, 2011, KONAMI will also be hosting live viewing events for the Pre-E3 Show 2011 which will be held in a number of cities across the globe including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, São Paulo, Mexico City and more to be announced.
“The annual E3 show is the world’s marquee video game conference and trade show event that draws a critical mass of gaming enthusiasts from all over the globe,” said Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. “This year, we want to build buzz ahead of E3 by hosting our own Pre-E3 show that will tie the viewing party attendees from each city with online viewers through Flickr, Twitter and Facebook.”
Konno: Nintendo wants to “bring a bunch of new elements” for Mario Kart 3DS, may talk about the game at E3
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 0 comments
This information comes from Nintendo Power…
“Now that nintendogs + cats is done, I’ve been able to spend more time and energy on Mario Kart development. We really want to bring a bunch of new elements into the game, and I’m really looking forward to the time that I can announce what those elements are. Perhaps we’ll be able to talk in more detail at this year’s E3 event.” – Hideki Konno
I have a feeling Konno was being coy here on purpose. I wouldn’t expect him to start dishing out details about the title to a magazine, after all. Mario Kart 3DS is supposed to be released this year, though, so I expect that the title will have a significant presence at E3, along with Super Mario 3D, Star Fox 64 3D, and Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Survey shows that U.K. kids don’t play outside enough, play too many video games
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
A survey published by the BBC in the past few days has revealed some startling (eh?) information regarding children living in the U.K., saying that, of 1,500 kids between the ages of six and fifteen, 22% had never run a distance of 400 metres, 10% couldn’t ride a bike and 15% couldn’t swim. The punch line of all of this? 77% of these kids have a gaming console at home, and 68% of them own a mobile phone.
I guess this just goes to show that kids in the U.K. are behind in fitness compared to other countries like America!
Oh wait…
