NintendoEverything Interview – Epic Mickey

Junction Point talks game length, choice mechanics, and the future of the series in our ‘Epic Mickey’ interview with them.
Last night, we posted up an interview regarding the upcoming game Okamiden for everyone to read, and tonight I’m excited to get back on the interview train with a game that is coming out a little sooner than that one! About a month ago I got an e-mail asking if I wanted to have an interview with some of the guys working on Epic Mickey, and I was ecstatic! Needless to say, I accepted right away, and posted up about it on the site for all of you to give us some questions!
Of course, being the fantastic readers you are, you gave us some things to ask about, and we sent em off. Well, now we’ve got our answers and we’re very excited to let you all read over them. There’s some pretty good info in here, so I encourage you to take a peek.

Reggie thinks Other M should be a million seller, hopes Metroid has a future, more
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 18 Comments
“We believe that it could be, should be a million unit title. We’re not going to get there, not through the holiday. And we are doing a lot of thinking as to why. Because it’s a great game. The consumer reaction because of the quality has been strong. We’re doing a lot of thinking about why we didn’t get there. I think the marketing was strong, advertising was very good, the social media we did was very positive. [Other M is] getting close to half a million.”
Following the comments above, Reggie also discussed the reaction to the portrayal of Samus…
“First off, [I have] nothing but the greatest respect for the development team. Mr. Sakamoto [co-creator of Metoid] did a wonderful job. His partnership with us in promoting the game was stellar. Team Ninja [is] absolutely fabulous. I’m not going to sit here and criticize a style of the game, but have I read the same feedback that said, broadly, that the portrayal of Samus felt different than how the player in the past had internalized the character? I’ve heard and read the same feedback. Do I think it’s warranted or not? I’m not quite sure yet… I don’t yet believe that that is the driving factor to the performance of the game.”
Lastly, Reggie was asked if Metroid has a future…
“I certainly hope so. I’m a passionate fan of Samus and the Metroid series.”

Rune Factory producer wants you to feel a part of the world on 3DS
Posted on 14 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in 3DS, News | 1 Comment
“There are certainly a lot of different things I could think of wanting to add. Since it’d be in 3D, I’d want to make it feel as if you are actually walking through this fantasy world. I’d want to make farming a more realistic, 3D experience. Dating would have scenes entirely in 3D. I really can’t think of going one-by-one here; I know I’d want to go at it and put a lot of different things in. Of course, if you’d like to see these things, please give Rune Factory 3 a try! If Rune Factory 3 succeeds in the West, it makes it a lot easier for us to consider making a new game in the future. I really hope you enjoy it!” – Rune Factory series producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto
A lot of my buddies get on my case for being so excited about the 3DS (needless to say, their opinions aren’t really valid), but I really think it’s going to add a layer of depth to worlds, even on such a small screen. All the impressions I’ve heard really tout how helpful it is for depth, and depth really helps put you in a world!
I’m quite excited!
Nofsinger: Nintendo told us not to use WiiSpeak on Conduit 2

“We have a Rival system that allows you play with people who aren’t just your friends, and it will be chat-enabled using the upcoming Headbanger headset. Not the greatest name, but it’s actually a pretty good device. Nintendo told us to not use WiiSpeak.” – High Voltage Software head Eric Nofsinger
>Nintendo puts out device
>2 games actually use it
>Nintendo tells developers to stop using it
>?????
>Profit
Wait… what? Ah well, WiiSpeak had some crappy audio quality anyway.
