In an extremely close call, Popup Dungeon’s Kickstarter has reached a grand total of $102 455 with PayPal backers meaning that it is now officially coming to Wii U. Enrique Dryere of Triple.B.Titles had this to say about the final total:

“Thank you, everyone,“Thank you, thank you, thank you! We never expected to reach $100,000, but thanks to your help and support, we’ve made it, and we’ll be doing everything we can to bring you a Wii U version as fast as possible.”

“I can’t describe how much this means to us. You’ve made it possible for us to live our dream, and in return we will give you the best game we can possibly make. We’ll be working as hard as we cane, day and night, to bring Popup Dungeon to you as quick as possible. Well, most of us will be working hard…”

“I truly hope our game will live up to all of your expectations.”

Being a port of the PC version, the developers hope to get the release out sometime in 2015 at the earliest. It will be an eShop release with some bonus features exclusive to the Wii U.

Today’s screenshot and caption are… Well, just great:

Under certain circumstances, the creatures on this planet appear to grow larger and go berserk. The Pikmin and I must be cautious lest we lose our heads to these beasts.

North America have only just got access to Photos with Mario, but if you’re curious as to what’s in store, GameXplain have already uploaded some footage for you to check out.

Update: Added in online versions that can be printed out and used with the app (via AR Cards Database, thanks choco!). These also include Koopa Troopa, Luigi, and Bowser images.

Photos with Mario is out now on the North American 3DS eShop (despite an odd July 9th, 1981 release date listing). Previously, the software launched in Japan in April of last year.

Photos with Mario is an application that allows users to take pictures with characters from the franchise. It can only be used with special-edition $10 Mario, Peach, and Goomba eShop cards.

You might be wondering: how exactly does one obtain one of these cards? I may just be blanking out here, but as far as I’m aware, Yoshi is the only character featured on a $10 voucher. Perhaps the original Mario, Peach, and Goomba cards will be released in the near future? They’ll supposedly be sold at Target (if they aren’t already available).

Thanks to Raul and oscar for the tip.

A 3DS version of Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails might be possible. Director Dan Croucher, speaking with Cubed3, said that a version for the handheld isn’t “totally out of the question”.

He said:

Nothing’s totally out of the question! 3DS is an amazing system, and we’d love to try it out, but we want to see how things go on Wii U first.

Croucher also spoke about Dakko Dakko’s future plans as well. There are “loads of ideas” regarding a Scram Kitty sequel along with ideas for brand new projects.

We have many plans for the future, partly depending on how Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails is received. We have loads of ideas for a sequel, and loads of ideas for new games, so we’ll have to see how thing pan out.
