3DS

This show wasn’t what I was expecting. It wasn’t live, and there was no Tak Fujii appearance! On the bright side, we did receive a new Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D trailer.

Yup, more eShop details

Posted on 13 years ago by (@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 0 comments

The 3DS eShop has received an absolute blowout of information today. Pretty much every major news outlet previewed the new service in some shape or form. Now GameSpot has provided another bunch of details, including limits on your virtual wallet and monthly spending, search options, and more. Oh, and you’ll probably be disappointed to hear that you can’t gift games to other 3DS owners.

– 50MB download
– Staff Pick category for the shelf
– First Staff Pick is Cave Story
– Search for games based on popular search phrases other uses have inputted
– Modify searches to retrieve more granular results by searching for game characters and genres, like puzzle games featuring Mario
– Charts include the most watched videos
– Can only carry $200 in your virtual wallet
– Can only spent $1,000 per month
– No game gifting
– eShop messaging will be done in the eShop, not SpotPass, since Nintendo doesn’t want to spam people

– “Photo-Camo”: Take a photo with the 3DS camera, use the image as in-game camouflage
– Unclear how the above will affect gameplay
– Need to tilt the 3DS to mimic Snake’s balance while on a bridge
– The above uses the 3DS’ gyro-sensor
– Snake stumbles upon a Yoshi figurine at the end of the trailer, but it isn’t clear what this means yet
